Safety Recall AOJ Phase 2 Overview

This safety recall affects certain 2007-2008 model year Toyota Corolla and Corolla Matrix vehicles equipped with 1ZZ-FE Electronic Control Module (ECM).

The recall is due to the possibility of a crack developing at certain solder points or on varistors on the circuit board, which may cause the engine warning lamp to illuminate, harsh shifting, or the engine to stop while driving.

Remedy Procedure

Toyota dealerships will inspect and, if necessary, replace the ECM at no cost to the vehicle owner.

A UIO matrix by state is provided to inform dealerships of the number of affected vehicles in their state.

Parts ordering instructions are provided, and dealers are advised to order parts based on appointments or immediate customer needs using a “Sell One-Buy One” ordering pattern.
