Introduction
The Maserati Ghibli is a high-performance front-engine coupe built between 1967 and 1973. It is a true thoroughbred GT, powered by a 4.7-liter engine developing 340 hp.
Design and Features
The Ghibli’s design was penned by Giorgetto Giugiaro, who was just 27 years old at the time. The car’s striking visual appearance, with its low and sleek profile, was a major selling point.
The Ghibli featured a dry-sump twin-cam V8 engine, a 5-speed gearbox, and a suspension system based on standard double wishbones in the front and a live axle and leaf springs at the rear.
Production and History
The Ghibli was unveiled at the Turin Motor Show in 1966, and production began in 1967. The car was built on a tubular steel ladder-frame platform chassis, with a steel body manufactured by Vignale.
Over the years, the Ghibli had many famous owners, including Henry Ford, Frank Sinatra, and Peter Sellers.
