The Special Coverage program aims to provide additional protection for a condition that could cause the evaporative emissions purge valve to not fully close in certain 2019 and 2020 model year Buick Enclave and Chevrolet Traverse vehicles.

affected vehicles: 2019 Buick Enclave, 2020 Buick Encore, 2020 Chevrolet Sonic, 2019 Chevrolet Traverse, and 2020 Chevrolet Trax.

The condition could cause the engine to run rough, hesitate, or stall at idle speeds, and the Malfunction Indicator Light (Check Engine Light) would illuminate, and a diagnostic trouble code would be set. Dealers are required to replace the evaporative emissions purge valve as necessary, and the repairs will be made at no charge to the customer.

Customers who believe their vehicle has the condition should contact their GM dealer to schedule an appointment and follow the reimbursement steps if applicable.

Important Dates:

• June 29, 2023: Global Warranty Management (GWM) The Applicable Warranties section on the Investigate Vehicle History (IVH) screen will be updated.
• July 31, 2024: Deadline for customers to submit reimbursement claims.

Customer Reimbursement:

Customers who have already paid for repairs may be eligible for reimbursement if the condition is confirmed. The completed reimbursement form and required documents must be presented to the dealer or received by the Reimbursement Department by July 31, 2024.

Customers with any questions or need any assistance should contact their dealer or the appropriate Customer Assistance Center.
