Hyundai is conducting a product improvement campaign to enhance the knock sensor software on certain 2015 MY Sonata vehicles to detect abnormal engine bearing noise before potentially severe engine damage occurs.
The campaign aims to update the Engine ECM and Cluster software to improve engine monitoring and prevent severe engine damage.
The update will blink the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) continuously, sound a chime, and place the vehicle in Limp Home Mode if abnormal engine bearing noise is detected.
Applicable Vehicles:
Certain 2015 MY Sonata (LF) vehicles with 2.4L and 2.0L Turbo engines
Important Notes:
Ensure BOTH the Engine ECM and Cluster are updated to complete this TSB.
Do not update using Manual Mode unless the Auto Mode fails.
