Symptom-based Workshop Manual
This manual addresses the symptom of scraping noises when changing from 1st to 2nd gear in 718 Spyder (982) and 718 Cayman GT4 (982) vehicles with 6-speed manual transmission.
Cause: The manual transmission was designed for sportier gearshifts, which can cause noises under unfavorable conditions such as cold transmission oil, high shifting speed, and high engine speed.
Remedial Action: A balancing weight can be retrofitted on the manual transmission to correct the issue. However, this will change the vehicle’s shift feel, making it less sporty.
