Safety Recall Information
This safety recall affects certain 2009-2012 models of Chrysler vehicles, including RAM Truck (1500 series), Dodge Dakota, Dodge Durango, and Chrysler Aspen.
The recall is due to a potential issue with the rear axle pinion nut, which may loosen due to undersized pinion shaft splines, causing the rear axle to seize or the driveshaft to separate, resulting in a loss of motive power.
Repair and Parts Information
The rear axle pinion nut must be inspected, and rear axles found with a loose pinion nut and/or a seized up rear axle assembly must be reconditioned. Dealers will receive parts packages to service the affected vehicles.
Dealers are advised to minimize customer inconvenience by providing loaner vehicles if the repair requires overnight holding of the vehicle.
