The Rolls-Royce “Twenty” GRK27 Story
The Rolls-Royce “Twenty” GRK27 was one of a small number of small HP chassis sent to the USA and fitted with American coachwork.
Originally a Brewster Glass Panel Brougham, it was later fitted with a handsome roadster body designed by Ray Dietrich and built by Packard.
Early History
In 1924, GRK27 was finished with Brewster Glass Panel Brougham Coachwork and sold to Mrs. HM Chisholm.
In the early 30’s, the second owner, John W. Beatty Jr., an accountant in Pittsburgh, PA, responded to an ad in the New York Times offering a driveable Rolls-Royce Twenty Chassis GRK27.
Mr. Beatty went to New York, purchased the chassis, and proceeded to drive it back to Pittsburgh in the dead of winter.
Restoration and Legacy
In 1964, Tom Batchelor’s father acquired the Rolls-Royce Twenty Roadster, and the family became passionate about all things pre-war Rolls-Royce.
Dad joined the RROC, and the family attended all the National meets, driving the car on local tours and attending local car shows.
