Air Conditioning and Heating System
The air conditioning and heating system in these Rolls-Royce and Bentley models is designed to provide comfortable temperatures and ventilation throughout the vehicle.
Early System
The early system, found in early Standard SI and early Continental SI cars, features a manually operated by-pass valve in the heater tap.
Intermediate System
The intermediate system, found in all SI cars and coachbuilt S2 cars, uses fresh air drawn through gauze-covered grilles in the front wings, boosted by blower motors through heat exchange matrices.
The system also features a transfer duct below the facia, which directs air upwards through the windscreen de-misting slots and downwards to heat the car interior.
Heating and Ventilation
The heating and ventilation system includes features such as front compartment heaters, rear compartment heaters (on some models), and de-mister outlets.
The system is controlled by multi-purpose switches on the facia or division, which operate the blower motors, vacuum taps, and butterfly valves.
