Air Conditioning and Heating System
The air conditioning and heating system in these vehicles is designed to provide comfortable temperatures and ventilation. The system consists of heat exchange matrices, blower motors, and vacuum-operated valves and taps.
Intermediate System
This system is fitted to S1 and S2 cars, and features a heat exchange matrix under each front wing, which heats the air before it enters the car interior. The system also includes a de-mister function, which directs warm air to the windscreen.
Heater and De-mister Switches
The heater and de-mister switches control the flow of hot engine coolant to the heat exchange matrices and the blower motor speed. The switches have multiple positions, allowing for varying degrees of heat and ventilation.
Ducting and Component Removal
The ducting system can be dismantled for maintenance and repair. The procedure involves removing the blower motor, butterfly valve, and other components, and reassembling in the reverse order.
Heat Exchange Matrix and Blower Motor
The heat exchange matrix and blower motor can be removed and inspected for maintenance and repair. The matrix is secured to the valance with nuts and bolts, and the blower motor is a Smith’s Accessories unit.
