History of Rolls-Royce
The company was established in March 1906, founded by Charles Rolls and Frederick Henry Royce.
In 1904, Rolls and Royce collaborated and met at the Midland Hotel in Manchester.
The 40/50 hp Silver Ghost was produced in 1906, which later led to the introduction of the Spirit of Ecstasy in 1911.
Major Milestones
In 1914, aircraft engine production started, and in 1921, a manufacturing plant was opened in Springfield, Mass, USA.
Phantom I was introduced in 1925, followed by Phantom II in 1929 and Phantom III in 1936.
In 1931, Rolls-Royce acquired Bentley Motors, and in 1933, Henry Royce died.
In 1938, the Wraith was produced, which was the last model made in Derby.
