The Rolls-Royce Legacy
The Rolls-Royce company was established in 1906, founded by Charles Stewart Rolls and Frederick Henry Royce. The company has a rich history, starting with the production of the 40/50 hp Silver Ghost in 1906.
In 1910, C.S. Rolls was killed in an aeroplane crash, and the company shifted its focus to aircraft engine production in 1914. The Spirit of Ecstasy was introduced in 1911, designed by sculptor Charles Sykes.
Major Milestones
Key milestones include the introduction of the Phantom I in 1925, the acquisition of Bentley Motors in 1931, and the opening of a manufacturing plant in Springfield, Mass, USA in 1921.
The company continued to innovate, introducing new models such as the Phantom II in 1929, the Wraith in 1938, and the Silver Cloud in 1950.
