Service Bulletins

This manual provides service bulletins for Rolls-Royce automatic gearboxes used in Bentley Silver Dawn, Silver Wraith, and Phantom IV models.

Fitting of New Gasket

A previously recommended gasket between the rear half bell-housing and the gearbox has been deemed unnecessary and should not be replaced if already fitted.

Front and Rear Servos

Rolls-Royce automatic gearboxes from Serial Number C251 onwards feature a second pipe connecting the front and rear servos, allowing for smoother gear changes. This pipe is now a standard component in all replacement servo units.

Rear Pump and Governor Assembly

The governor driving flange in automatic gearboxes with Serial Numbers C1 to C384 has been upgraded from aluminum to steel. If servicing is required, the complete governor and pump assembly should be replaced with the new steel flange version.

Servicing Periods

The oil pressure check and stall test have been removed from the periodic servicing schedule due to their limited value. The primary focus of the road test is to ensure smooth gear changes without slipping.
