ABS Braking System
This section provides information on the anti-lock braking system (ABS) component locations and wiring diagram.
Introduction
The ABS electronic control unit (ECU) has a self-check program that can detect faults and switch off the system. If a fault is detected, the ABS warning panel on the driver’s information panel (DIP) illuminates.
The purpose of this manual is to clarify the check procedure and supply the specified widths of the air gaps between the toothed wheel and wheel speed sensor for front and rear axles.
Procedure
The manual provides a step-by-step procedure for checking the wheel speed sensors, including jacking up the vehicle, turning on the ignition, and rotating the wheel by hand.
The manual also lists possible causes of faults, including incorrect connection or open circuit of the wheel speed sensor lead, excessive wheel bearing play, defective or loose toothed wheel, and incorrect air gap between the wheel speed sensor and toothed wheel.
