ECU Comms Failure Recovery Procedure
This procedure outlines the steps to recover the ECU if an “ECU Comms Failure” message appears in the instrument panel of Evora models from 2016.
Causes of ECU Comms Failure
The ECU may lose communication with other engine management systems due to a discharged battery or an interrupted programming procedure, resulting in a non-starting vehicle and inability to communicate with the engine management system.
Recovery Steps
Download the T6 ECU recovery zip file from the Lotus Dealer Portal and extract it to the desktop of the Lotus TechCentre laptop. Then, connect the VCD yellow cable to the OBDII connector, open the ECU program folder, and follow the on-screen instructions to update the ECU software.
Ensure the laptop and vehicle batteries are sufficiently charged, and do not interrupt the download process to avoid damaging the ECU.
Once the update is complete, reinstall the correct .crp program for the vehicle using Lotus TechCentre.
