Purpose of the Procedure
The purpose of this procedure is to flush the hydraulic fluid of the Porsche limited-slip differential (PSD) as part of periodic maintenance.
Important Precautions
* Warning: The PSD system operates at very high pressures (up to 180 bar /2600 psi).
* Instructions: Carefully follow the procedure to avoid injury or damage to the vehicle.
Equipment Needed
The following tools and materials are needed for this procedure:
- Jack and jack stands to lift and support the rear of the car
- Wrench to remove the left rear wheel
- 8 mm socket to remove the left rear fender liner
- Multimeter to measure resistance and voltage
- Mity-Vac or similar to remove old fluid and pump in new fluid
- Creeper to get under the car (optional)
- Rag for cleaning top of reservoir
Step-by-Step Procedure
The procedure involves 17 steps, including:
- Removing the spare tire
- Removing the left rear wheel
- Removing the rear wheel well liner to expose the PSD unit
- Bleeding the pressure accumulator
- Repeating the bleeding process until all old fluid is flushed
- Pressurizing the accumulator one final time
