Study the Porsche Workshop Manual pages 24-116 through 24-118 and 24-223 through 24-224, and the exploded diagrams in the parts manual before attempting this procedure.
Removing the intake manifold will require approximately 5 to 20 hours and patience is advised. Take safety precautions when dealing with the fuel delivery system.
Preparation
Ensure foreign objects do not enter the engine cylinders, fuel injector engine inlets, Mass-Air Sensor housing, fuel rails, dampers, and fuel lines.
Take notes and label components as you disconnect them, especially when replacing or repairing other components in the vicinity of the intake.
Have the necessary parts and tools ready, including rubber engine intake gaskets, throttle housing intake gaskets, rubber pressure rings, a small torque wrench, and Vaseline.
Procedure Overview
The procedure is broken down into six sub-procedures: gaining access to the fuel delivery system, removal of fuel rails and injector, removal of other intake related components, removal of the air intake, additional “While You’re in There” tasks, and re-installation.
