Important Information
The McLaren 650S has a Lithium-ion start battery and a proximity key fob. If the battery is flat, the vehicle will take measures to ensure ease of entry and safety.
Opening the Vehicle with a Flat Battery or Failed Key Fob
The driver’s side window will “short drop” to ease opening the door. The mechanical key can be retrieved from the fob to open the driver’s side door.
Troubleshooting Key Fob and Battery Replacement
If the key fob battery is flat, the vehicle may not acknowledge the fob. Try locking and unlocking the vehicle with the fob buttons. If unresponsive, try the second fob or refer to the “Opening of Vehicle with Flat Battery or Failed Key Fob” tip sheet.
Placing the fob in the cup holder can help the vehicle acknowledge the fob even with a nearly flat battery.
Key Fob Battery Replacement
The key fob battery is a common CR2032 cell and can be replaced by breaking down the fob and reinstalling the new battery.
