The purpose of this Service Campaign is to check and replace the coolant crossover pipe on Maserati Quattroporte, Ghibli, and Levante vehicles with V6 engines to prevent a possible coolant leak.
Preliminary Checks
Check the vehicle’s involvement in the Service Campaign using ModisCS+ and perform the campaign if not previously done.
Crossover Pipe Inspection
Inspect the crossover pipe cap for traces of glue, indicating a glued cap rather than an ultra-sonic welded cap. The production date printed on the pipe near the crossover bracket should also be checked.
Replacement Procedures
The replacement procedure involves removing the engine cover, draining the coolant, removing the air filter, loosening the water return pipe retaining clips, and removing the clamp between the water pump and heat exchanger. The throttle body, 2 bolts from the thermostat to the crossover pipe, and wire harnesses must also be removed. Finally, the new crossover pipe with its seal and bolts should be installed, and the coolant recovered and re-used.
