Bleeding the Brake System
This manual provides a step-by-step guide on bleeding the brake system of a Lotus Esprit 2.2 LTR (MY90-MY96) with a Delco Moraine ABS IIIA system.
The procedure involves de-pressurizing the accumulator, bleeding the brake lines, and checking the brake fluid levels.
Important Notes
Use only DOT 4 brake fluid, and avoid using DOT 5 silicone fluid or contaminated fluid.
De-pressurize the accumulator before performing any service operations.
Turn off the ignition if the pump runs for more than 60 seconds.
Troubleshooting
If the brake pedal feels soft or spongy, refer to the “Excessive Pedal Travel” section.
If the brake pedal does not feel smooth and uniform, refer to the “Non-Uniform Pedal Feel” section.
If the pump runs continuously, refer to the “Pump Runs Continuously” section.
