Introduction
The Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 is a high-performance automobile with a top speed of 350 km/h (217 mph) and 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) acceleration of 2.9 seconds.
Carbon Fibre Reinforced Plastic (CFRP) Monocoque
The Aventador features Lamborghini’s first CFRP monocoque structure, which reduces the car’s overall weight and leads to improved performance and safety.
The monocoque weighs only 147.5 kg (324.5 lbs) and boasts torsional stiffness of 35,000 Newton meters per degree, guaranteeing extremely exact wheel control with excellent steering precision and sensitive feedback.
Production Process
Lamborghini produces the Aventador monocoque in-house using three main CFRP manufacturing methods: braiding, resin transfer moulding (RTM), and epoxy foam components.
The production facility is organized into five lines, including autoclaves, prepreg, RTM, epoxy foam, and machining.
