Safety Recall Campaign
The Front Passenger Seat Occupant Detection System (ODS) Wiring Harness (SC175) campaign is aimed at preventing damage to the wiring harness on 2015-2018MY Kia Sedona (YP) vehicles with “Manual” front passenger seats, produced from July 29, 2014 through July 17, 2017.
A damaged wiring harness can lead to airbag non-suppression, increasing the risk of injury or death in the event of a crash. To rectify this issue, a procedure is provided to remove the wiring harness clip and cut the retaining clip, allowing the wiring harness to move freely. Additionally, the front passenger seat cushion should be replaced if the wiring harness is damaged and the SRS airbag warning light is illuminated with DTCs B1490(00) and B1764(00).
Repair Procedure
The repair procedure consists of inspecting the vehicle, performing fault code search on the KDS, and replacing the front passenger seat cushion if necessary. The wiring harness should not be secured or replaced, and the retaining clip should be discarded. Proper operation of the seat and airbag system should be verified after the repair.
A Vehicle Diagnosis Number (VDN) is required for compensation if the front passenger cushion must be replaced.
