This is a notification regarding a Product Improvement Campaign for 2012-2016 MY Kia Soul vehicles equipped with 1.6L Gasoline Direct Injection engines.
The campaign is aimed at protecting the engine from excessive connecting rod bearing damage by performing a software update on the Engine Control Unit (ECU). The update will be done free of charge and will only involve the addition of newly developed computer software.
What will Kia do?
Kia will perform a software update to the ECU in your vehicle at no cost to you and extend the warranty coverage for the engine sub-assembly (short block) to 10 years starting from the date of first service or 120,000 miles, whichever occurs first.
What should you do?
Contact your Kia dealership immediately to schedule a service appointment to have the KSDS software installed on your vehicle and to take advantage of this extended warranty on your engine.
