Introduction
This Emergency Response Guide is designed to familiarize first responders and the towing/roadside assistance industry with the proper methods to handle the KIA Niro PHEV in an emergency situation.
The guide provides a basic overview of key vehicle systems and instructions for dealing with different types of emergencies encountered by first responders, including high voltage electrical system procedures.
Vehicle Description
The KIA Niro PHEV uses a combination of a conventional gasoline-powered internal combustion engine and a high voltage electric motor to propel the vehicle, providing improved gas mileage and increased driving range in EV mode.
The vehicle can be identified by the “Eco plug-in” logo on the tailgate and “plug-in Hybrid” badge under the hood, as well as orange High Voltage cabling.
