Security Systems and Key Information
Lotus has used several different types of alarm systems since the early 90s, including PFK 457, Cobra 8166, Cobra 8186, and Meta.
Key and Transmitter Ordering Procedures
Keys and transmitters can be ordered from Lotus or Bolton Lock Company, and must be matched to the vehicle using the owner’s 5-digit PIN.
Various forms are required for key and transmitter ordering, including the Lotus Key Cutting/Transmitter Order Form and the Archive Search Security Codes form.
Alarm System Types and Associated Parts
PFK 457 alarm system is used in Elise, Exige, and Evora models, and requires a mechanical key blade and a three-button transmitter unit.
Cobra 8166 alarm system is used in Europa S and SE models, and requires a teardrop-shaped transmitter fob and a mechanical key with a security transponder.
Cobra 8186 alarm system is used in Elise and Exige models, and requires a teardrop-shaped transmitter fob and a mechanical key with a security transponder.
Meta alarm system is used in Mk.2 Elise and Mk.1 Exige models, and requires a replacement transmitter fob with a single button and a mechanical key with a security transponder.
