Before installation, it is recommended to have a professional do it to avoid damage. The manual warns against disassembling or modifying any components, and voids the warranty if tampering is detected.
Pre-Installation Checks
Inspect the vehicle’s controls and interior-exterior for any damage or malfunctioning components. Also, inspect the factory lift gate for proper operation and function of lights.
Remove or cover any items of clothing that may cause damage during installation, and set aside interior panels that have been removed to avoid damage.
Important Safety Precautions
Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait at least 2 minutes before proceeding with the installation. Failure to do so may result in damage to the vehicle’s systems.
The manual then goes on to detail the kit components, including the control box and remote controls.
