Precautions and Preparation

The INFINITI FX35/FX45 Service Manual outlines precautions to take when working with the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) and electrical systems. Special service tools and commercial service tools are recommended for specific tasks.

Battery Handling and Maintenance

The battery should be kept clean, dry, and charged. If the vehicle is not going to be used for a long time, the negative battery cable should be disconnected. It’s essential to check the electrolyte level, specific gravity, and charge condition regularly to prevent over-discharge.

Checking Electrolyte Level and Specific Gravity

The electrolyte level should be checked by removing the cell plug and adding distilled water up to the maximum level. The specific gravity should be checked with a hydrometer, and any sulphation should be addressed through slow charging.

Charging the Battery

Charging the battery should be done slowly, with a duration of 12 hours or more, followed by a battery capacity test. Incorrect charging can lead to sulphation and reduced battery life.
