This service bulletin addresses an issue with the Head Up Display (HUD) being inoperative, blank, or unresponsive to brightness, aim, or page controls, with DTC U1518 set.

The cause of the condition is the timing of certain data messages on the LIN bus while the HUD is transitioning into standby mode, which may cause the HUD to be stuck in this mode until reset.

Correction

Reprogram the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) and cycle the HUD fuse to resolve the issue.

Follow the service procedure as outlined, including ensuring all updates are installed and the HUD is operational after reprogramming.
