This technical bulletin addresses the issue of halogen headlamp bulb failure in Land Rover vehicles. The issue is described as the HB3 halogen bulbs blowing out prematurely, resulting in earlier than expected replacement. The recommended solution is to install a resistive cable wire to the existing HB3 connector, which must be fitted below the projector unit. The procedure involves disconnecting the HB3 connector, releasing the existing wires from the locking clips, and installing the resistive wire. The wire must then be secured below the holders using a locally sourced cable tie.
Important Notes
The resistive wire must be installed below the projector unit and not in contact with the projector assembly. Normal warranty procedures apply, and labor only claims must show the causal part number with a quantity of zero.
Procedure Steps
The procedure consists of 13 steps, including removal and installation of headlamp assemblies, disconnecting and reconnecting the HB3 connector, and securing the resistive wire using a cable tie. The steps are described in detail, with accompanying pictures and references to the TOPIx Workshop Manual.
