Introduction

FreeScan is a Windows-based program that communicates with the ECU of 4-cylinder Lotus Esprit models built between 1989-1999 (SE, S4, S4s, GT3).

System Requirements

FreeScan runs on Windows 95, 98, or NT4, with a minimum display resolution of 800 x 600, one free serial port, and recommended system specifications of a 90 MHz or better Pentium and at least 32 MB of RAM.

Installation and Connection

The software can be downloaded or loaded from the supplied CD. The ALDL interface lead connects the PC to the GM ALDL port in the car, with the other end plugging into the 9-pin serial port on the laptop.

Note: Some serial ports may not supply the correct voltage, and recent laptops without 9-pin serial ports may require an additional RS232-USB adaptor.
