Recall Campaign Instructions
Ferrari has determined that a defect exists in certain Model Year 2011 and 2012 Ferrari 458 Italia and California vehicles, involving a possible non-conformity in the final stages of machining of the crankshafts.
This defect may cause engine seizure without warning, rendering the vehicle inoperable and possibly resulting in a crash.
Affected Vehicles
One Model Year 2011 Ferrari 458 Italia and certain Model Year 2012 Ferrari 458 Italia vehicles in the VIN range: ZFF6ZNFA3BO182199 to ZFF6ZNFA3CO183516.
Certain Model Year 2012 Ferrari California vehicles in the VIN range: ZFFGSLHA2CO182364 to ZFF6SLJAOCO183765.
Corrective Action
Ferrari is offering three options for remedying this defect: installation of a new crankshaft and bearings, removal and reinstallation of the engine, or replacement of the original engine with a new one.
The corrective actions will be performed free of charge to the customer.
