Introduction
This manual is designed to familiarize first responders and towing/roadside assistance industry with the proper methods to handle the Optima Hybrid Electric Vehicle in an emergency situation.
Vehicle Description
The Kia Optima Hybrid Electric Vehicle combines a conventional gasoline powered internal combustion engine and a high voltage electric motor to propel the vehicle, providing improved gas mileage and increased power.
The high voltage electrical system is self-contained and recharges automatically while driving.
Identifying features of the Optima Hybrid Electric Vehicle include the “Eco Hybrid” logo on the trunk and side of the vehicle.
Important Safety Note: Always utilize additional methods of identification before determining the vehicle is not a hybrid, as the hybrid logo can become hidden after a crash due to damage to the vehicle.
