The purpose of this manual is to provide instructions for the repair of the driver airbag inflator in certain 2007-2008 Chrysler Crossfire vehicles. The recall is due to a potential issue with the inflator rupturing during normal airbag deployment events, which could result in serious injury or death.
Repair Procedure:
The procedure involves disconnecting the negative battery cable, removing and saving two screws that secure the driver airbag to the steering wheel, and then pulling the driver airbag away from the steering wheel to access the electrical connectors.
Important Notes:
The procedure requires special tools, including the NPN wiTECH 2.0 microPod II and the NPN Laptop Computer wiTECH 2.0 Software. Additionally, the fasteners, screws, and bolts used for the restraint system components must never be replaced with substitutes.
