The recall pertains to certain 2007-2008 Dodge Avenger and Chrysler Sebring models equipped with the standard tire pressure monitoring system (sales code LAB) built through January 24, 2008. An unused tire pressure monitoring system electrical connector may corrode and short circuit, causing various issues, including an engine no-start, dead battery, inoperative cruise control, or engine stalling, which could lead to a crash without warning.
Repair Procedure:
All unused tire pressure monitoring system electrical connectors must be removed and the wiring sealed with heat shrink. The service procedure involves disconnected the negative battery cable, removing and replacing several components, and sealing wires with heat shrink tube.
The procedure consists of 24 steps, including disconnection and removal of electrical connectors, cutting and sealing wires, and reinstalling components. Additionally, it is recommended to reset the clock and clear all diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) after completing the service procedure.
