Introduction

The MOVE UK project aims to accelerate the development and deployment of automated driving systems (ADS) through connected validation and big data analysis.

The project involves trialling a new method of validating ADS using a small fleet of five Land Rover vehicles, fitted with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), including camera-based autonomous emergency braking (AEB) and traffic sign recognition (TSR).

Project Strategy

The primary objective is to develop a new approach to ADAS and ADS validation, called silent connected validation, which involves selective recording of relevant events, silent mode operation, and interim on-board storage and automatic transmission of event recordings to cloud servers.

This approach could help in type approval, complementing or replacing conventional certification tests, and providing an additional layer of safety assurance.

Key Areas

The project covers three key areas: the vehicle, the driver, and the environment, with ‘use cases’ demonstrating capabilities and coverage between these domains.
