CUSTOMER SATISFACTION: ANTI-THEFT S/W LOGIC UPGRADE AND DECAL INSTALLATION (CS2302) for 2011-2016MY Sportage (SL) and 2017-2022MY Sportage (QL)

This technical service bulletin provides the procedure to upgrade the software logic of the Integrated Body Control Unit (IBU) or Body Control Module (BCM) system on some 2011-2016MY Sportage (SL) and 2017-2022MY Sportage (QL) vehicles to add anti-theft ignition start logic.

Important Notes:

Before attempting an ECU upgrade, ensure the vehicle is equipped with an immobilizer security system and follow proper procedures to avoid PCM inoperability.

ECU Upgrade Procedure:

Use the KDS download to reprogram the ECU, ensuring a fully charged battery and KDS device. Follow the procedure outlined in this publication to apply the improved logic to the ‘IBU-BCM’ system.

Window decals should be applied to both front windows to indicate the anti-theft S/W logic upgrade has been completed.
