Before starting installation, familiarize yourself with the procedure and refer to the instructions in this manual. Ensure the area is clean and clear of foreign objects that could damage the engine or other components. Disconnect the negative battery cable and route wires and hoses away from exhaust heat, moving parts, and sharp edges. Use proper weight-rated safety stands or ramps to raise the vehicle, and balance it to prevent slipping or falling.
Important Safety Precautions
Use floor jacks to support the vehicle while working under it, and avoid raising it onto concrete blocks or masonry. Refer to the exploded view (Figure 1) for general guidance, and consult section diagrams for proper installation procedure.
Tools and Supplies Required
Tools required for installation include V2″ and 3/8″ drive ratchets, inch and metric sockets, 12″ and 3/8 drive extension, and various wrenches and screwdrivers. Penetrating oil or light lubricant spray, oxy-acetylene torch, and foot-pound torque wrenches are recommended.
