This manual provides instructions for replacing the timing belt and water pump on an Alfa Romeo 159 with a 1.9 or 2.4 JTDm engine.
Disassembly
Disconnect the battery, dismount necessary components, drain the cooling circuit, and turn the crankshaft to position cylinder 1 at TDC.
Replace the exhaust camshaft bolt with a lock pin and loosen the tensioner nut to dismount the timing belt.
Assembly
Fit the timing belt at the crankshaft pulley, replace engine block bolts, and mount the timing belt.
Tighten the camshaft pulley bolt, remove specific tools, and rotate the crankshaft to check the correct assembly.
Fill the coolant circuit with a suitable coolant and antifreeze before switching on the engine.
