Towing Basics
For optimum handling and braking, the load must be properly distributed. Keep the center of gravity low for best control.
Tires should be checked often for conformance to recommended cold inflation pressures. Overinflated tires may wear unevenly and compromise traction and stopping.
Trailer Towing Selector
Maximum towing capabilities are for properly equipped vehicles with required equipment and a 150-lb. driver and passenger. Cargo and weight distribution are critical for safe towing.
Driving with a Trailer
When turning, be sure to swing wide enough to allow the trailer to avoid curbs and other obstructions.
When passing a slower vehicle, be sure to allow extra distance before pulling back in.
Downshift the transmission to assist braking on steep downgrades and increase power when climbing hills.
