Trailer Towing
The 2024 Ford Expedition is designed for trailer towing, with a maximum loaded trailer weight rating of up to 15,500 lbs. depending on the engine and axle ratio.
The available Trailer Towing Package (Option Code 536) includes a 7-wire harness, 4-/7-pin connector, hitch receiver, and trailer brake controller.
Towing Basics
For safe towing, it’s essential to properly distribute the load, with 60% of the cargo weight in the front half of the trailer and 40% in the rear.
Tires should be checked often for proper inflation, and the spare tire should be a conventional, identical full-size spare.
When towing, downshift the transmission to assist braking on steep downgrades and to increase power when climbing hills.
Use the tow/haul mode to automatically eliminate unwanted gear search and help control vehicle speed when going downhill.
