Safety Recall Report
This report is related to a safety recall of certain 2023-2024 Kia Sportage and 2022-2024 Kia Carnival vehicles due to a defect in the roof molding.
Description of Defect
The roof molding may become loose or detach due to interference with excessive roof panel sealer or improper installation during vehicle assembly.
Description of Safety Risk
A detached roof molding can create a road hazard for other vehicles, increasing the risk of a crash.
Description of Remedy
Kia dealers will inspect and, if necessary, secure/replace the roof molding(s) to prevent interference with excessive roof panel sealer.
Kia will reimburse owners for repair expenses already incurred.
