Engine Options
The 2021 Ford Bronco comes with two engine options: a 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine and a 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine. The 2.3-liter engine produces 138 cu.in. (2,264cc) and has a compression ratio of 10.0, while the 2.7-liter engine produces 164 cu.in. (2,694cc) and has a compression ratio of 10.01.
Transmission and Drivetrain
The Bronco features a 7-speed manual transmission (available on the 2.3-liter engine only) and a 10-speed automatic transmission (available on both engines). It also has a longitudinally mounted front engine with a center-mounted transfer case, independent front axles, and solid rear axles.
Suspension and Steering
The Bronco has a body-on-frame design with a fully boxed high-strength steel frame and seven cross members. It features a High-Performance Off-Road Stability Suspension (HOSS) System with low-mass independent front suspension and a five-link solid rear axle. The steering system is a three-mode rack-and-pinion type with standard, comfort, and sport modes controlled via the Terrain Management System.
Brakes and Safety Features
The Bronco is equipped with four-wheel power disc brakes and a four-sensor, four-channel anti-lock braking system. It also features electronic stability control, trailer sway control, and electric power-assisted steering. The safety features include dual-stage front and seat side airbags, Safety Canopy side-curtain airbags, and a rearview camera with backup assist grid lines.
