Introduction

This emergency response guide provides procedures for the 2021 Explorer and Aviator Hybrid (FHEV) and Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) vehicles.

The vehicles use a conventional gasoline engine and an electric motor to power the vehicle, with a High Voltage battery pack and a generator that charges the battery during cruising and braking.

Vehicle Identification

FHEV vehicles are identified by the hybrid badge on the liftgate, while PHEV vehicles are identified by the blue backing on the front grille, blue lettering on the fender, and the charging port located in the LH front fender.

High Voltage components are identified by orange cabling and high voltage labels on components.
