The Subaru Thermo Control Valve Warranty Extension Service Bulletin (09-119-24) is an announcement from Subaru of America, Inc. to extend the New Car Limited Warranty coverage for the Thermo Control Valve used in certain models, including the 2020-22MY Outback and Legacy, 2019-21MY Forester, and 2021MY Crosstrek.
This bulletin is a result of reported conditions of DTCs P2682 and/or P26A detected by the Engine Control Module (ECM) due to coolant vapor intrusion into the sensor portion of the control valve.
A new TCV has been developed with an enhanced internal stainless steel shaft and advanced water proofing for the sensor, and Subaru of America will reimburse customers who have previously paid for repairs or replacement related to the Warranty Extension.
Certain parts, such as the Valve Assembly-Thermo Control (Part Number 21319A4010 and 2131944040), have been fitted with a design change, and the design change cut off can be determined by reading the production date code.
The service procedures for the Thermo Control Valve remain unchanged, and customers are reminded to refer to the applicable Service Manual for critical information including safety precautions, inspection criteria, and required processes.
Labor operations and warranty claims:
The bulletin provides guidance on labor operations and warranty claims related to the Thermo Control Valve replacement, including coding for Warranty Claim submission.
Important Reminders:
SOA strongly discourages the printing and/or local storage of service information and advises customers to always check for any open recalls or campaigns anytime a vehicle is in for servicing.
Reimbursement Eligibility:
