Towing Guidelines
Before towing, ensure your vehicle has the proper equipment and consider the weight of the trailer and cargo. Performance can be affected in hilly terrain.
Trailer Brakes
Use a separate braking system on trailers with a loaded weight over 1,500 pounds. Electronically Controlled Brakes, Electric-Over-Hydraulic (EOH) Trailer Brakes, and Surge Brakes are available options.
Safety Precautions
Always use safety chains, and ensure the trailer is equipped with lights that conform to government regulations. Properly distribute the load, and secure it to prevent shifting during cornering or braking.
Driving Tips
Turn off cruise control with heavy loads or in hilly terrain. Check tire pressure regularly, and use caution while driving on wet roads.
Practice turning, stopping, and backing up your trailer in a safe area before starting a trip.
