Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) initiated a voluntary safety recall due to the outboard steering linkage jam nut(s) potentially loosening and causing a drag link separation, leading to a loss of directional steering control and potential vehicle crashes.
Guidance:
Inspectors are not to place affected vehicles out of service if the outboard steering linkage jam nuts are welded to the adjuster sleeve, as this is the manufacturer-developed and approved remedy to the safety defect.
