About the Volvo XC90
The Volvo XC90 has been produced and sold as a mid-size SUV since 2002, now in its second generation design.
It is similar to other ranges by the same Swedish manufacturer, the XC60 and the XC70.
First Generation
First-generation models were more heavy-duty, with non-colour coded plastic bumpers and more ground clearance.
Engine choices were vast, ranging from a 2.0 litre turbo to a 4.4 litre V8, with 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission options.
Second Generation
The second generation model is less off-road capable and more luxury on-road crossover SUV.
Engine choices were reduced to a 2.0 litre with single or double turbo gasoline or diesel options.
Customers can choose from seven trims, including Inscription, Momentum, and R DESIGN, with an 8-speed automatic transmission and front all-wheel-drive option.
The plug-in hybrid option adds an electric motor, allowing the car to run in electric-only mode for 27 miles.
