Important Safety Information
This manual provides updates to the 2017 NISSAN Sentra Owner’s Manual, specifically regarding the NISSAN Advanced Air Bag System (front seats).
Key Points
The system is designed to meet U.S. regulations and is also permitted in Canada.
Proper operation of the passenger air bag system requires observing certain precautions, such as not allowing rear seat passengers to push or pull on the seatback pocket and not placing heavy loads on the seatback or in the seatback pocket.
The front air bags are designed to inflate in higher severity frontal collisions and may not inflate in certain frontal collisions.
The system monitors information from the crash zone sensor, Air bag Control Unit (ACU), seat belt buckle sensors, and occupant classification sensor (weight sensor) to determine whether to deploy the air bag.
Front air bags, along with the use of seat belts, help to cushion the impact force on the face and chest of the front occupants.
Proper use of the seat, seat belt, and child restraints is necessary for most effective protection.
