R-1234yf is a new refrigerant that meets the EU directive for a Global Warming Potential (GWP) of less than 150.
Why R-1234yf?
R-1234yf is a lower GWP refrigerant that provides credits towards the 2016 EPA mandate for corporate fleet average of less than 250 g/mile of CO2.
The R-1234yf refrigerant is developed by DuPont and Honeywell and has similar procedures and processes compared to R134a.
R-1234yf Phase in
FCA is phasing in R-1234yf in various models, including Alfa Romeo 4C, Chrysler 200, FIAT 500 and 500L, Chrysler 300, Ram 1500, and more.
