The VIN plate is the legal identifier of the vehicle, located on the upper left corner of the instrument panel.
The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) System provides information on the region of build, manufacturer, vehicle brand, GVWR, brake system, body style, chassis/series, engine type, and restraint system.
VIN Derivative
A VIN derivative contains 9 positions, including GM division identifier, model year, assembly plant, and plant sequence number.
