Important Notice
Some vehicles may have contaminated engine cylinder blocks with abrasive debris, which can compromise engine durability.
Under rare conditions, engine oil can be forced into the Make Up Air hose, resulting in unintended oil consumption.
Repair
The repair involves changing the engine oil, oil filter, and air filter, and sending the oil filter to FCA for analysis. If debris is found, the engine and related oil cooler components may need to be replaced.
An updated oil management system with a new valve cover assembly and baffle will also be installed.
Alternate Transportation
Dealers should provide loaner vehicles to customers if the repair requires an overnight hold.
